Main goal of the role
Are you a passionate storyteller with a knack for innovative and impactful communication? Aqua for All’s dynamic and growing team is seeking a Senior Communications Officer! This position offers a unique opportunity to shape our internal and external messaging and positioning.
We are looking for a creative and hands-on person who is able turn complex concepts into clear, inspiring stories across digital and offline channels. The messaging you create about our programmes will elevate our mission and engage our stakeholders, donors and partners
In this role, you’ll ensure that our messaging aligns with Aqua for All’s strategy and vision to transform the water and sanitation sector. You are eager to strengthen Aqua for All’s position as a transformative frontrunner in the sector. Working with the broader Aqua for All team in the Netherlands, Kenya and Ethiopia, you’ll develop collaborative working relationships both within the organisation, as well as with external partners.
As our Senior Communications Officer, you’ll not only help tell our story, but you’ll also play a crucial role in building relationships with media and other partners, thereby ensuring our key messages are communicated effectively.

What you’ll do
- Develop engaging content and implement comprehensive communication strategies to promote Aqua for All’s communication about programmes, partnerships, research and events, thus positioning the organisation as transformational and catalytic in the sector.
- Ensure the overall communications of the organisation are professional, innovative, visually compelling and consistent via various communication channels with donors and partners. This includes (co-)writing proposals, reports, regular news and updates for the website.
- Collaborate with the Market Development, Impact Finance and Impact & Knowledge teams in developing targeted and clear messaging and communications materials. In addition, support the Leadership Team and Managing Director on internal communications.
- Build and maintain Aqua for All’s strong reputation and online and offline visibility, particularly among key stakeholders.
- Manage social media and website and produce media and PR overviews for donors. Coordinate organising sessions and high-level panels at events and conferences Aqua for All participates in.
What we are looking for
- Proven working experience (5+ years) in a senior communications role; within the non-profit or impact investment sector is a plus.
- Outstanding command of English at a professional business level; Dutch is a plus.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail. Enabling you to produce engaging communications messages for different audiences.
- Proficiency in digital marketing and communications tools and platforms.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with innovative communication tools and software for website management and producing communications materials
- Demonstrated ability to work in an international environment; preferably related to impact finance, water and sanitation, and/or SME development.
- Proactive, energetic and ambitious with a natural ability to connect to and inspire others.
