We are looking for an Innovative Finance Officer 

 

Aqua for All is a not-for-profit organisation working towards facilitating sustainable access to safe drinking water and good sanitation for all (Sustainable Development Goal – SDG 6). ​​We strive to create a sustainable and inclusive water and sanitation economy worldwide. We believe innovations, scalable solutions and access to capital are instrumental to bridge the current service delivery and financial gaps in the water and sanitation economy.

Aqua for All  bridges these gaps by supporting market-based solutions to become viable and scale while contributing toward achieving SDG 6. With our 17 years of experience in developing and supporting market-based approaches, we support local entrepreneurs and other initiators on their journey and offer funding, access to water sector expert network and to other financiers and impact investors.

Aqua for All has since mid-2019 started a new programme in collaboration with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs up to mid-2024. Under this Making Water Count programme, Aqua for All operates in parts of Africa and South Asia. Our ambition is to achieve higher impact and to mobilise additional public and private investments for effective water and sanitation solutions.

As our innovative finance programme is gaining momentum, we are looking for a new colleague to join our team. The role is of:

 

Innovative Finance Officer (36 hours/week)

 

We are looking for a dynamic and fast-learning candidate with a passion for social entrepreneurship and blended finance for impact. The ideal colleague will bring experience in business and financial analysis of (early-stage) companies in low income countries. Having experience in the water and sanitation economy is a plus.

You contribute towards linking our support to companies in scaling their initiative with investor’s requirements, you support the structuring of our participation in selected blended finance mechanisms and you work side-by-side with programme managers in structuring such initiatives. This position is part of the innovative finance team and reports to the Managing Director. You are based at our office in The Hague.

You will fill an exciting role that includes the following responsibilities:

Support the development and implementation of our innovative finance programme:

  • Conduct background research as part of e.g. due diligence;
  • Contribute to the designing, structuring, implementation and monitoring of innovative finance initiatives, like Social Impact Incentives (SIINC) for WASH;
  • Prepare relevant documents for decision making and reporting purposes;
  • Liaise with partners/stakeholders; and
  • Support the development of guidelines and standards to further develop the innovative finance practice.

 

Develop Technical Assistance trajectories:

  • Work on analysis of business plans and financial models of social enterprises to design appropriate support trajectories towards investment readiness;
  • Coordinate with companies designing the right acceleration trajectories;
  • Align impact measurement with relevant partners, in the field of development, climate, etc.;
  • Prepare relevant documents for fund raising and communication; and
  • Contribute to the designing, structuring, implementation and monitoring of Technical Assistance trajectories with SMEs active in the service chain of drinking water and sanitation.

 

You have:

  • A passion for making finance work for positive impact on water and sanitation services for low income countries and communities;
  • A Bachelor or Master degree in a finance & business related study;
  • Demonstrable experience (minimum of 3-5 years) in impact investing and/or Technical Assistance trajectories, preferably experience of working with (early-growth stage) companies in developing countries (Africa and Asia);
  • Hands-on mentality and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • You are able to conceptualise and implement trajectories;
  • Strong analytical skills, proven business and financial analysis skills, result-oriented attitude and entrepreneurial mindset;
  • Strong affinity with international development in general and the mission of Aqua for All in particular;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others by demonstrating flexibility and openness to diverse approaches.
  • Residence or working permit for EU countries.

 

We offer:

  • A position in a professional and diverse team of 24 experienced colleagues based in the Hague, Addis Abeba, Nairobi, Dhaka and Bamako;
  • Challenging position with room for own ideas;
  • A 1-year contract with possibility of extension;
  • A competitive remuneration following the salary scales of the Dutch government (‘CAO Rijk’);
  • For now, we work mostly from home and only to limited extent from our great working space in The Hague (Spaarneplein, near the Hague HS and 10 min walk from Central Station).

We use our funding to accelerate access to water and sanitation to low-income households and institutions. We do this by supporting innovations and scaling up enterprises until they are investment ready, without distorting the market. In verband met het zwangerschapsverlof van onze collega, zijn we op zoek naar een tijdelijke vervanging voor tenminste 4 maanden van onze:

 

Office Manager (24 uur) vanaf 7 februari tot juni 2022

 

We zoeken naar een enthousiaste collega die van aanpakken weet met talent voor organisatie. Als Office Manager ben je een echte verbinder en de spin in het web van de organisatie. Je bent verantwoordelijk  voor de organisatorische, administratieve en secretariële ondersteuning van de directie en het Aqua for All team. Geen dag is hetzelfde. Je ondersteunt de directeur en het team bestaande uit zo’n 23 enthousiaste collega’s op allerlei gebieden.

De Office Manager rapporteert aan de Operations & Team Manager en werkt nauw samen met de andere leden van het team.

 

Jouw taken en verantwoordelijkheden:

Organisatorische & administratieve ondersteuning

  • Biedt administratieve en procedurele ondersteuning bij de uitvoering van besluiten en zorgt voor de voorbereiding en benodigde informatie;
  • Bereidt vergaderingen van de directeur voor en notuleert deze waar nodig – in het bijzonder het Regionale Programma Overleg – en verricht voorbereidend werk voor de agenda, presentaties, werkt benodigde stukken en presentaties uit, etc;
  • Verricht diverse (inhoudelijke) werkzaamheden voor het programmateam met betrekking tot de voorbereiding, uitvoering en afronding van projecten;
  • Verricht secretariële werkzaamheden ter ondersteuning van de directeur en het team zoals de behandeling van (digitale) post, agendabeheer van de directeur, de organisatie van de Raad van Toezicht vergaderingen, de (voor)bereiding van notities en notulen, het regelen van reizen en visa, etc.

 

Kwaliteitsbeheer

  • Ondersteunt het management bij de voorbereiding van de ISO audit ter verlenging van het ISO 9001/2008 certificaat;
  • Signaleert eventuele knelpunten in de werkprocessen, biedt verbetervoorstellen aan en onderneemt de benodigde acties.

 

Relatiebeheer

  • Je bent ons visitekaartje bij de ontvangst van gasten, beantwoordt de telefoon en handelt gesprekken zoveel mogelijk zelfstandig af;
  • Zorgt voor een goed verloop van de interne en externe communicatie door het vastleggen en doorgeven van informatie en afspraken.

 

Jouw kwaliteiten:

  • Je hebt een afgeronde opleiding op minimaal hbo niveau;
  • Je spreekt en schrijft vloeiend Nederlands en goed Engels;
  • Je communiceert helder, zowel mondeling als schriftelijk;
  • Je kunt uitstekend plannen en organiseren;
  • Je hebt ervaring en bent handig met Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, e.d.;
  • Je werkt zelfstandig, bent proactief en weet van aanpakken;
  • Je bent zorgvuldig, vriendelijk en tactvol;
  • Je bent klantgericht en ondersteunt je collega’s waar mogelijk;
  • Je weet problemen te voorkomen en lost ze op waar ze zich voordoen;
  • Je bent stress bestendig, flexibel en kunt snel schakelen;
  • Ervaring binnen/kennis van internationale samenwerking is een pré.

 

We bieden:

  • Een uitdagende functie in een professioneel en divers team van 24 ervaren collega’s met basis in Den Haag, Addis Abeba, Nairobi, Dhaka en Bamako;
  • Een tijdelijk contract van tenminste 4 maanden;
  • Een competitieve beloning volgens de salarisschalen van de Nederlandse overheid (‘CAO Rijk’);
  • Momenteel werken we voornamelijk vanuit huis en in beperkte mate vanuit ons fijne werkplek in Den Haag (Spaarneplein, op loopafstand van Holland Spoor en 10 min. Wandeling vanaf Centraal Station)
