We are looking for a Finance Officer!

 

Main goal of the role

Are you a finance professional with a hands-on approach, ready to make an impact in the water and sanitation sector? Aqua for All’s growing and dynamic team is seeking a Finance Officer! This position offers the opportunity to take charge of daily financial operations and play a key role in supporting our team and our mission to achieve SDG 6 — universal access to safe water and sanitation for all.

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual who enjoys managing financial transactions, ensuring compliance and supporting key financial reporting activities.

In this role, you’ll work play an integral part in maintaining Aqua for All’s financial health. Your work will directly contribute to the success of our programmes, which mobilise public and private investments to scale sustainable water and sanitation solutions in low-income households.

You’ll be based in The Hague and work with our international team, working closely with the Finance Manager.

What you’ll do 

This role reports to the Lead Finance & Operation and includes the following responsibilities:

  • Transaction management: Record all financial transactions, process invoices, manage accounts receivable/payable and reconcile bank statements. Monitor cash flow and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Project finance: Support project teams in producing high-quality financial planning, control, and reporting documents. Review and validate assumptions, methodologies and financial plans.
  • Compliance and policies: Implement financial policies and procedures to maintain transparency and adherence to standards. Ensure financial records are compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Financial reporting and analysis: Prepare periodic financial reports and annual financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow). Conduct financial forecasting and analysis. Compile transparent, complete and clear financial data for the Management Team and Supervisory Board to inform decision-making.
  • Audit support: Participate in internal and external financial audits, preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries from auditors and management.
  • IT support: Be a superuser in AFAS, expanding AFAS functionalities and usage for the wider team.

 

What we are looking for 

  • MBO 4 or HBO degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in financial administration and reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools – AFAS experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others by demonstrating flexibility and openness to diverse approaches.
  • Strong writing skills and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch

Salary scale CAO Rijk : Scale 7
