Project summary
Arrebol Peru is an sustainable sanitation organisation that executes domestic wastewater treatment projects and dry sanitation systems. They produce dry sanitation accessories. Arrebol is launching a pilot in San Juan de Lurigancho (an informal community near Lima) to sell the SeEco toilet, a dry toilet which separates feces into compostable material in partnership with Winay Warmi, a womens champion network who will be employed as salespeople. Due to COVID-19, Arrebol has seen their sales of their regular solutions and technology go down, the revenue of which was reserved for this pilot as they reported profits in 2019.
The goal of this pilot is to employ the Winay Warmi in each informal community (of which they are members) to promote and sell the SeEco toilet. This pilot is being assisted through a partnership with Water.org and Mi Banco, a local MFI who will provide houshold loans to customers.
Arrebol received Response Facility support to compliment their pilot with Water.org and Mi Banco. Activities will include increasing manpower for field operations, technicians and installation, office operations, accounting and marketing (who will train the Winay Warmi sales network). They will also engage in a sanitation promotional campagin, provide PPE for their community workers, and set up a revolving fund for financing the SeEco toilet.
