Project summary

The SIINC aims to incentivize TE to increase the rate of connected households, reward TE for bathroom connections, and incentivize ID-Poor connections through an additional bonus: The primary objective of the SIINC is to enhance the overall connection rate given that the systems are placed in remote, rural communities and the majority of the households are low-income. Increasing the connection speed would provide households that typically rely on ponds or rainwater with 24/7 access to clean piped water sooner than they would without the SIINC (Metric 1). An additional metric will reward TE for bathroom connections, a business offering that TE would not have been able to focus on without a SIINC (Metric 2). A Bonus metric will push TE to reach the most vulnerable, ID Poor, who would otherwise be less likely to connect given the upfront connection fee.
