High-value products derived from black soldier fly larvae raised on human waste - Aqua for All

In this project, Sanergy will use Aqua for All’s funding to research and demonstrate the technical and business viability of high-value products, such as oil and protein meal, produced from black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) that are reared on faecal sludge. The circular economy for faecal sludge has remained constrained to low-value products, making it difficult to attract the private sector and commercial capital. Sanergy will research and test innovative waste processing methods and product lines derived from BSFL. This will provide sustainable and scalable solutions for developing countries across Africa and Asia where the implementation of sewage systems is unfeasible.
