Testing sensors in cold storage at International Airport
Kenyan flowers are exported daily to various parts of the world, mostly via Schiphol airport in the Netherlands. But increasingly flowers are being transported directly to their final destinations. In order to guarantee the quality of these fresh flowers, FlowerWatch is setting up a system for improving the monitoring of quality from their offices in the Netherlands, Kenya and Japan. The monitoring of the flower supply chain has historically been happening with offline temperature data loggers, but why would you want to know in hindsight where things exactly went wrong?
What if you could know in real time how well the cold storage rooms are functioning throughout the supply chain? This would give you the proof that your professional parters are meeting their obligations on a daily basis.
Three companies with Dutch roots have teamed up to setup a realtime monitoring network. FlowerWatch is designing the optimal functioning flower supply chain. Bexter has developed the online platform and is expanding the network on the European side. Upande provides and maintains the hardware in Kenya and is working on the development and integration of new sensors through this ViaWater project.
