Presently I am working on the development of biological sanitation; I.e. Latrines that don't fill up and biological sludge management for rural abattoirs.
Over 30 years in the low cost sanitation sector including sanitation marketing has given thorough knowledge on sanitation technologies and sanitation marketing.What are you looking for in the VIA Water Community (partners, skills, advice, knowledge, etc)?
Knowledge about biological sustainable sanitation at present, but I would like to see sanitation in a holistic environmental socioeconomic economic poverty eradication perspective.What knowledge, expertise, skills do you have to offer?

Björn Brandberg is an international sanitation development adviser and certified social entrepreneur with good language skills and commitment to inclusive innovative solutions, training and capacity building.
B Brandberg has 40 years of professional experience in Africa and Southern Asia, principally in low-income sanitation programmes. Since 1989 he has been an independent consultant working for and in co-operation with major international organisations and consultancy firms including World Bank, UNICEF, UNDP, WHO, UNCHS, UNHCR, UNOPS, Sida, DFID, NORAD, WaterAid, WELL, Habitat for Humanity, Stockholm Environment Institute, AustralCOWI, Carl Bro International, CowiConsult, Kruger Consult, Louis Berger, Burnside, etc in over 20 countries in Africa and Asia with focus on southern and eastern Africa and Mozambique. He has 10 years experience as programme manager in low-cost sanitation programmes, of which 6 as national coordinator of the latrine building programme in Mozambique, 4 years co-ordinating the national low-cost sanitation programme in Malawi and 15 years as an independent consultant.
B Brandberg is the developer of a pending patent on integrated ecological waste treatment system.
B Brandberg is a member of the WSSCC–Water and Sanitation, Collaborative Council, RedR–Registered Engineers for Disaster Relief and IES-ES+–Institute for Social Entrepreneurship. He is a partner and technical adviser to LCS ProMotion, a non-profit supply company for low cost sanitation material based in Sweden. He is the principal developer of the SanPlat System (www.SanPlat.com) for lowest cost environmental sanitation and the author of the handbook Latrine Building. The SanPlat System has gained acceptance all over Africa. As an outcome of country specific programmes some 4-5 million SanPlat latrines have been built in over 20 countries. In Maputo (Mozambique), where the peri urban sanplat system was born, sanitation coverage now is close to 100%. In Malawi, where the rural version of the SanPlat system was developed, the country is maintaining a leading role and has among best progress of improved sanitation south of Sahara.
