The core Sponge Town team

The ink one the contract has barely dried up when the sponge town project takes off. We had a fruitful start-up meeting with the team, consisting of Mutinda, Bernard, Hezbon, Francesco, Marta, Theo and Luwieke. Combining the strengths and expertise of SEKU, SASOL and MetaMeta Research.

It is great to set the ball rolling, prepare the work plan, divide roles and responsibilities, and get started! The first half year is already full of activities, mainly regarding the citizen platform, baseline survey and the design of neighbourhood plans to turn the urban area into a sponge. Looking forward to dive in to discuss with the communities and initiate the surveys.

The days after Luwieke joined the ViaWater skills sharing event. An excellent opportunity to meet our fellow ViaWater innovators so to get to know each other and our projects. We interacted much and it was a fun way of learning more on leadership skills, project management, cultural dimension, knowledge sharing and more.

We also met with our sister project Sponge City Kajiado, we are looking forward to collaborate throughout and improve our innovations. We are very happy to join their kickoff meeting that will take place in early February.

All in all it is great to kick-start our activities in this way!
