Project summary
The **Foundational Support Programme** is one of the [++technical assistance++](https://aquaforall.org/ilf-for-wash/ilf-for-wash-technical-assistance/) tracks available for impact-driven WASH enterprises, as part of the Impact-Linked Fund for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene ([++ILF for WASH++](https://aquaforall.org/ilf-for-wash/)). The programme is supported by the [++Social Finance Academy,++](https://social-finance-academy.org/) an initiative by Roots of Impact.
The programme aims to transfer knowledge and skills from certified service providers to WASH enterprises in two areas: **impact measurement and management (IMM)** and **investment readiness (IR)**. At the same time, the goal is to embed these areas into the specific business model of the selected enterprises.
One of the selected enterprises receiving support on both IMM and IR is WE!Hub Victoria Limited (hereinafter referred to as ‘WeTu’). WeTu purifies (via solar energy) raw water and sells clean and safe water for drinking at an affordable price via ATMs. The enterprise operates in a hub model business, where they have constructed 15 solar powered energy centers to run all operations in rural parts of the lake region in western Kenya. The enterprise has currently installed 20 water points (ATMs) in 10 communities in 4 counties within this region. Additionally, WeTu carries out sanitation and hygiene trainings to raise awareness about the importance of safe drinking water and partner closely with the counties health department to work with the Community Health Volunteers.
