New partnerships in East Africa to increase access to finance for water and sanitation

In partnership with Oikocredit, we will support Sidian Bank in Kenya and EBO Financial Services in Uganda to provide financial services for water and sanitation enterprises, and people.

Oikocredit will provide US$ 2 million to Sidian Bank and US$ 160,000 to EBO to finance community water and sanitation initiatives led by the private sector. In turn, Aqua for All will offer technical assistance and training, first-loss capital and performance-based incentives.

Through our support to Sidian Bank 5,000 Kenyan households will have access to water and sanitation by 2026. In Uganda, EBO will provide loans to service providers to expand or upgrade operations, and for emergency pipe repairs, which will benefit 1,500 households by 2026.

Besides supporting two financial institutions through our partnership with Oikocredit, we will provide technical assistance support to Hofokam Limited in Uganda. The technical assistance support will be used to improve its WASH loan product and build internal capacity on WASH microlending to serve households and micro, small and medium enterprises in Western Uganda.
