e-MFP’s European Microfinance Week 2021 (EMW 2021) will be held virtually from 17 to 19 November. With more than 50 sessions and participants representing 60+ nationalities, EMW 2021 is one of the key events of the European inclusive finance community.
The world is not on track to achieve SDG 6 by 2030. The projected annual investment gap in developing countries is $260 billion (average from 2015 to 2030). There is an urgent need to mobilise public and private investments to close the financial gap to achieve SDG 6. Therefore, Aqua for All develops innovative solutions to de-risk and unlock private capital in partnership with funds, international organisations, (local) financial institutions, and impact investors.
During the EMW 2021, we will organise two sessions to promote investments in water and sanitation:
- 18 November, 11:00 – 11:30 CET: ‘Progress on WASH Lending’. This session will showcase our partnership with Sidian Bank to establish a Covid-19 WASH Loan Facility. The facility has successfully supported 558 micro, small and medium enterprises safeguarding access to water and sanitation to 2.9 million people in Kenya. Read more about the session or watch its recording.
- 19 November, 12:15-13:15 CET; ‘WASH and financial inclusion’. During this workshop, the results of a study on WASH and financial inclusion will be presented and discussed. The workshop is organised by the e-MFP WASH Action Group (AG), which is led by Aqua for All. For more information, you can access the session’s summary and recording now.
