Updated: Dickson won! - VIA Water project owners join prestigious events
Sanivation and Trace selected to participate in finals
Dickson Ochieng, of VIA Water project Sanivation has won the Get in the Ring Battle during the High Level Meeting of the Global Partnership for Development Cooperation! He was selected by a jury which included Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen. In an amphitheatre filled with a public of high-level policy-makers, CEO’s, CSO’s, foundations, and potential investors, Dickson convinced the jury to grant him the ticket to the Global Get in the Ring event in Singapore. After practicing during our Sharing Skills Seminar, in which Dickson was a participant, he was sent off by his fellow participants with some great tips on how to improve his pitch. Great to see that worked. Congratulations Dickson!
A great day for VIA Water project owners! Dickson Ochieng of Sanivation was selected as one of the winners of the Start up Battle (part of Start Me Up Africa), which means he will be pitching at the prestigious Get in the Ring Final in Nairobi in November. The Final will take place during the High Level Meeting of the Global Partnership (30 November - 1 December), in an amphitheatre filled with a public of high-level policy-makers, CEO’s, CSO’s, foundations, and potential investors.
And then there's Kevin Mureithi of Trace, who is one of the finalists of the African Entrepreneurship Award 2016. He will join and pitch in the Presidential Round in Casablanca in November/December. Finalists will be asked to present their business idea and take live questions before The Presidential Jury, comprised of distinguished business leaders and entrepreneurs. Before presenting, finalists will be offered individual coaching by African and Global Boot Camp Coaches.
Both entrepreneurs have been a part of the VIA Water online Innovation Challenge in 2015, which means they attended an online accelerator programme, helping them develop a sound proposal for our VIA Water fund. Both their projects are now being supported by VIA Water.
