Ton Dietz, who has been instrumental in the early development of the VIA Water programme and fund, will be retiring  as the director of the African Studies Centre Leiden and as a professor of African Development at Leiden University on 1 September 2017. He has given a very interesting farewell interview, in which he talks about current and future trends on the African continent.
