In April, VIA Water will be visiting Ghana again. After visiting the country in June 2015, we have received many proposals and ideas from enthusiastic project owners to be. However, the well seems to be drying up, and that means it is time for a renewed introduction! Besides Accra and Kumasi, programme coordinator Willemijn Nagel will also be visiting Tamale this time. She will also visit some of the projects that have already handed in a proposal, to see first-hand what their idea is about.

This visit is part of a series of events: in April our visit is meant as a (renewed) introduction of our programme, in order to get the proposals flowing again. In July, we will once again visit the country, this time to organise a Learning Tour. During the event in July, participants will work on their own proposal, with a team of partners or colleagues. They will follow workshops, learn about proposal writing, experience how beneficial sharing experiences with other project applicants can be, see how creativity can work for them and learn how to present their ideas effectively. More information about the Learning Tour in July will be posted on our website.

The visit in April will be organised in cooperation with the Ghana Netherlands Business and Culture Council (GNBCC). Recently, a special water attaché (Barnabas Apom) was appointed, who will stimulate cooperation between the Dutch water sector and Ghana. He will also be organising our visit, and will accompany Willemijn during her visits and presentations.

Willemijn will be in Ghana from 11-15 April. Her programme includes:

April 12th: ‘Refresher course’ in Accra - for those who have already heard about the programme during our first visit, but are interested to hear about VIA Water again, ánd for those who are new to the programme and also interested.

April 13th: Introduction of the programme in Tamale – for anyone interested

April 14th: Refresher course with known contacts in Kumasi - for those who have already heard about the programme during our first visit, but are interested to hear about VIA Water again, ánd for those who are new to the programme and also interested.

Venues and times for these meetings are listed in the invitation below. If you would like to register for any of these meetings, please send an email to Barnabas Apom at barnabas@gnbcc.net and mention which meeting you would like to attend.
