Water crises risk #1 impact-wise says World Economic Forum, urbanisation big challenge.
The World Economic Forum Global Risks report has moved from just identifying risks, towards looking at the interconnectedness of risks and its cascading effects. Since 2015 it also identifies the causes and possible effective solutions. Water crises are seen as nr 1 in the top 10 risks in terms of impact, and nr 8 in the top 10 linked to likelihood of these risks occurring.
Besides that, the World Economic Forum sees urbanisation as a big challenge and possible risk for climate change, pandemics, social unrest and more, if cities are not well governed during the major transition from a predominantly rural to urban world. At the same time, it can also be a driver for innovation and economic growth.
