Seminar on water innovation: presentation of research on VIA Water

14 February 2019 14:00

The Rector of IHE Delft is honoured to invite you to a workshop on Water Innovation in Africa on 14 February at IHE Delft: 14:00-18:00.

Over the past decades, water innovation has been recognized as essential for solving water challenges, and it is increasingly placed on national as well as global policy agendas. Initiatives to promote water-related innovations in Africa follow different approaches, target diverse audiences, and have different outputs and outcomes. The overall objective of this workshop is to facilitate knowledge sharing about the science and practice on water innovation in Africa.

The workshop theme is: Fostering water innovation in Africa: learning from science and practice

To address this theme, structured in-depth sessions will be organised in "stations" on the following three knowledge products, generated by IHE Delft, AfriAlliance, VIA Water, Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), and the Centre for Frugal Innovation (CFIA):

  • Understanding the determinants of water innovation in Africa (the case of VIA Water): results from postdoctoral research by Silas Mvulirwenande
  • Navigating the dynamics of water innovation:  a hands-on taxonomy of innovation studies
  • Strengthening the long term knowledge base: AfriAlliance strategic knowledge and innovation advice on water and climate in Africa

These in-depth discussions will be followed by a plenary panel discussion and drinks at the IHE Delft bar.
