Water,Sanitation and Hygiene


The Kenya government's introduction of free primary education in 2003, was a welcome idea to many families who could not afford to take their children to school for basic learning.This created an increase in enrollment without physical structures to accommodate new pupils.The sources of water for the community and school are mainly roof catchments, unprotected springs and shallow wells.The quality of water remains poor in the Subcounty.Mirere community 4% of the population have access to portal water.This makes a larger population vulnerable to waterborne diseases.
