Water Secured World vrs Household water quality

As the global water community focus on achieving a water secured world, most attention is drawn to the demand side of providing water (quality). It focusses on the number of people being reached with water. The issues of water quality only surface at the initial stage.

However, one key, often neglected aspect of providing water is its quality to the final consumer (household). Though water can be deemed potable at the point of collection, the means of transporting water can pollute safe and potable especially in Africa where women and girls have to travel considerable hours to access the resources.

There is the urgent need to focus on household water quality measures to ensure that the final consumers still consume the water we had in mind to provide for them, "potable water".
