Officiellement démarré en juillet 2017, avec une phase préparatoire de trois mois, le Projet de Gestion Ecologique des Boues de vidange et de valorisation des sous produits (ProGEB) de Parakou, en République du Bénin est un projet pilote qui entre autre doit alimenter une base de données exploitable pour la construction de la station communale de traitement des boues de vidange. Le terme du projet était prévu pour le 31 décembre 2018.
Initialement implanté sur un terrain privé de l’ONG BETHESDA, le projet a été déplacé sur un terrain appartenant à la Commune de Parakou, 10 mois après le démarrage.
Ce déplacement a nécessité des formalités complémentaires à savoir, l’ouverture des voies d’accès au nouveau site, la reprise de l’Etude d’Impact Environnemental et Social (EIES), l’actualisation du dossier technique du projet pour tenir compte du nouveau contexte.
Ce jour 14 septembre 2018, marque une étape capitale dans le processus de la réalisation de l’EIES. En après la pré validation faite au niveau commune en début du mois d’août 2018 à Parakou, ce jour a été choisi par le ministère de l’environnement à travers l’agence béninoise pour l’environnement (ABE), pour donner son avis d’autorisation ou non de la réalisation du projet. Le séance se tient à Cotonou.

Officially started in July 2017, with a three-month preparatory phase, the Parakou Ecological Project for the Management of Waste Sludge and Sub-Products (ProGEB) in the Republic of Benin is a pilot project which, among other things, should feed a basic exploitable data for the construction of the municipal wastewater treatment plant. The project term was scheduled for December 31, 2018.
Initially located on private land of the NGO, BETHESDA, the project was moved to land owned by the Parakou Commune, 10 months after start-up.
This move required additional formalities, namely, the opening of the access roads to the new site, the resumption of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), the updating of the technical file of the project to take into account the new context.
This day, September 14, 2018, marks a milestone in the process of carrying out the ESIA. After the pre-validation made at the commune level at the beginning of August 2018 in Parakou, this day was chosen by the Ministry of the Environment through the Benin Environment Agency (ABE), to give its opinion authorization or not of the project. The meeting is held in Cotonou.
