Listen to David Auerbach who founded Sanergy in 2010 with Lindsay Stradley and Ani Vallabhaneni whom he met at MIT. When students were asked to develop a business solution to a poverty challenge that affects at least one billion people, they decided to leverage their experiences to develop a systems-based approach to solving the urban sanitation crisis. The first Fresh Life Toilet opened in Nairobi on November 19th, 2011, on World Toilet Day.

Sanergy's vision is to transform the sanitation sector and build healthy and prosperous communities by making hygienic sanitation accessible and affordable for everyone, forever. We build a network of hygienic toilets in urban slums, safely collect the waste from the communities and treat and convert it into useful end-products, such as organic fertilizer, insect-based animal feed, and renewable energy.
