Stakeholders present at SaniFish inception meeting

TriMark Aquaculture Centre organised a stakeholders meeting to incept the SaniFish project. The meeting commenced from 9:00am and ended mid day on 18th January, 2018 at Royal Lamerta Hotel in Kumasi, Ghana. The objective of the meeting was to develop a strategy allowing successful implementation of the SaniFish project to complement International Water Management Institute’s (IWMI’s) CapVal project. The meeting was attended by 23 official stakeholders from diverse institutional background: Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) (Government of Ghana representative), local Universities (Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi and University of Education, Winneba, Mampong Campus), Ministry of Fisheries, local fish farmers and Community (Chirapatre Estate) opinion leaders. During the programme, the Director of Waste Management Department of KMA presented on the key waste management challenges facing the department in the region to welcome SaniFish to their jurisdiction. IWMI presented on the objectives and role of their field project dubbed CapVal and the need for SaniFish project to complement their effort. The Founder and Centre Director of TriMark also walked the stakeholders through the SaniFish workplan and their expected output after the project life. Generally, the event was very successful and it built stronger amicable working relationship among stakeholders
