Launch of the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

The 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, on July 25-26. It will be the sixth annual gathering of entrepreneurs at all stages of business development, business leaders, mentors, and high-level government officials.

Organized annually since 2009, the GES has emerged as a global platform connecting emerging entrepreneurs with leaders from business, international organizations, and governments looking to support them.  This will be the first time the GES will take place in sub-Saharan Africa.

His Excellency the President Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H. while officially launching the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit Kenya Chapter had a chance to see innovations from Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC). The event took place at Strathmore University. The most striking of the innovation that wowed the president was the Biogas packaging by Keekonyokie. In his address the president said he was excited to see great innovations like the Masaai trying to package biogas. Other innovations that fascinated the president included; Farm Capital, Maji Milele, Wanda Organic, Mineral and Allied t/a Hydroponics Africa, Mushroom Blue and Future Pump.

Kenya is emerging in the African continent as an innovation hotspot a fact alluded to by the president. The President said on Tuesday that many novel ideas die just as fast as they are conceived because the structures that support their development are not there. Kenya Climate Innovation Center is changing all this by identifying and nurturing innovations in renewable energy, agribusiness and water management. The Center works with each entrepreneur to strengthen them through the incubation center that provides advisory services and proof of concept financing. These entrepreneurs are in addition provided with assets of knowledge, research and connections to markets.
