EnterWASH participants

This week, MDF West Africa and FARIAD started with the first ever EnterWASH training, a training programme for young people who want to venture into business to contribute to solving the WASH problems in their communities. Twenty-two ambitious young Ghanaians between 20 and 35 years old were selected to join the programme . The first week's training centered around an introduction on WASH, learning about entrepreneurship and innovation, putting ideas into business models and getting to know the market. For an impression of this first week of training, see our photo album on Facebook:

We'll be adding more photos to the album as the training continues next week!

I am curious how your trainings week developed and how everyone got through...

Hi Willemijn, sorry I just saw your message! The training was very intense for the participants - especially the second week when it was all about finance!
All 20 participants completed the training. After the training, it was up to the participants to put more of the learning into practice and validate their business ideas. We expected some drop-outs, but fortunately we only had 2 people drop-out due to other commitments. Up till now, we still have 18 committed participants and the mentorship programme just started. See here for a list of the mentors: https://enterwash.org/2016/08/25/mentorship-programme-kick-off/

In the mentorship programme, it is again up to the participants to take the initiative and ask for help when needed. This way, the business is really driven by them and they keep ownership over the process. Because we found that many struggle with the finance aspect of business, we are organising 2 extra training days on finance....more about that soon!
