Water is life!

Have you got the solution for a water-related challenge in your city? Do you live in Benin, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda or South Sudan? Do you want to see your idea come to life? Apply now for the VIA Water Innovation Challenge.

What: a virtual program that will help you take your idea to pilot proposal stage.

Who: 10 innovative thinkers with ideas to solve a water issue in one of the cities in Benin, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda and South Sudan meeting business and sector experts

When: You’ll need to be available for 8 hours per week from 1 September – 19 October 2015.

Deadline: Apply with a 2-page teaser by 5 August 2015. Please checkwww.viawater.nl for more information about the format of the teaser.

Good to know:

  • All complete applications will receive feedback on their concept.
  • The top 10 most promising concepts will be invited to a 6-week online program to finalise a sound proposal for the VIA Water Advisory Committee. This is an intense 6-week program including workshops and individual coaching sessions.

What’s next?

VIA Water Advisory Committee will reward concepts with funding, expertise, knowledge and access to its network to enable you to pilot your innovation. Individuals can apply for the challenge and join the virtual program. If you are selected to implement your idea, note that contract for the pilot will be signed with registered entities only.

Criteria for entering the challenge and apply for the Virtual program:

  • Have a potential scalable idea that will contribute to solving one of the pressing needs in African cities.
  • You need to be based in Benin, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda or South Sudan.
  • Entrepreneurs as well as government officials and knowledge institutes can apply.
  • You need to be available for 8 hours per week from 1 September – 19 October 2015.
  • You are at idea stage and need to develop a plan for a pilot. We’re not looking for proven concepts.
  • You are proficient in English.
  • You have access to a good and stable internet connection.

Dates to diarise:
5 August 2015: deadline for application submission
25 August 2015: selected participants announced
1 September – 19 October: online workshops and individual coaching sessions
