We are @WorldWaterWeek in Stockholm this week to promote FINISH Mondial
Waste, Amref Flying Doctors & Aqua for All are working together on local sanitation market development through the FINISH model (Financial INclusion Improves Sanitation & Health). Through local public private collaboration in India and Kenya by 2018, 3.5 million people enjoyed the benefits of safe sanitation and about € 50 Million in commercial investing was mobilised.
Through health awareness creation, demand creation, sanitation marketing, financial inclusion and loans, as well as mason and business training, we ensure that:
- People are aware of the need for a safe and durable toilet
- They want to buy one
- Which local people are prepared to build
- They can afford to do so
Following successes in India (since 2008) and Kenya (since 2013), this partnership will focus on upscaling this promising model to other areas in India and Kenya (national), and to Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda.
The Directorate-General for International Cooperation (DGIS) shall, together with WASTE, Amref Flying Doctors and Aqua for All outline their vision and ambition for scaling sanitation and attract private financing for FINISH Mondial during the World Water Week in Stockholm on Tuesday the 28th of August and Wednesday the 29th. Both events are for invites only. During these events we wish to engage with different corporations for scaling safe sanitation, financial inclusion for improved health and the circular economy towards 2030.
