Ms Astrid van Agthoven
Ms Astrid van Agthoven is the Regional Programme Manager for South Asia at Aqua for All.
Astrid has a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Delft University of Technology where she specialised in hydraulics and water resources management. She started her career at the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat) in the Netherlands in 1994.
From 1997 to 2015 she worked in several developing countries in Asia and Africa, both for the Dutch government as well as for UNICEF. Since then, she has focused on drinking water and sanitation. She draws from over 20 years of experience in the WASH sector, to a large extent field-based, and has gradually moved from more technical–oriented positions to management, leading local staff and large programmes.
At Aqua for All, the core of her work has focused on public-private partnerships and sanitation, where developing circular economy models for the value chain beyond the toilet continue to fascinate her.
Astrid is a pragmatic, dedicated professional that is widely appreciated for making sure that the job is done timely, with quality, in good consultation with stakeholders and with respect for local contexts and culture.
